Frequently Asked Questions What is this BCTA? The Brisbane Churches Touch Association was established in 1987 and has been operating continually ever since. We run community touch competitions catering for church, school and club teams.
When do your seasons run? Tennyson: We operate two x 17-week senior (i.e. adult) competitions per year: Summer (October to March) and Winter (April to September). We break for approximately four weeks between seasons and also over the Christmas / New Year period. Forest Lake: We run 8 week seasons on Sunday afternoons commencing each April, July and October.
Do you run junior competitions? Not fixtures, but we offer free junior coaching clinics on selected Tuesday evenings throughout our summer and winter seasons. What days do you play? We currently play on Tuesday nights and Sunday afternoons. Where do you play? Our Tennyson venue has five excellent floodlit fields, a large car park and amenities blocks, making it one of the best touch-playing facilities in Brisbane. Our Forest Lake venue has a clubhouse and four touch fields, two of which are floodlit.
Do you play 6 or 7 a side? All grades are 6-a-side.
Do you run mixed, men's or women's competitions? We currently run mixed competitions only. What's the minimum age to play in the adult competition? Players must be at least 14 years of age to participate in our adult competition. Our junior clinics cater for 9-13 year olds.
How does one establish eligibility for the semi finals? Players must register before Round 6. Players can register with one team only one each competition night. We have never played touch before- is this the comp for us? Yes. The BCTA runs five mixed grades (A to E) and so caters for all standards of play from beginners to competitive. Do I have to be a Christian to play? No. The BCTA is an inclusive organisation so non-Christians are most welcome. All players are expected to abide by our Code of Conduct. Do I have to be part of a church group to play? No. Teams may be social groups, or represent institutions such as churches, schools, colleges or hospitals. We are non-denominational. Are you affiliated with other touch organisations? No, we are proudly independent. D you have insurance? Yes, we have both Professional Indemnity and Player Injury policies. What happens to your profits? As we are a not-for-profit organisation, any surplus is retained by the Association for the benefit of our members. Are you incorporated? Yes. The BCTA has been incorporated in the state of Queensland since 1990, incorporation # IA7877. Do you have an ABN? Yes. We are a registered business (though GST exempt), ABN 91 884 131 521. Do you have Good Sports accreditation? Yes, we have level 3 accreditation from Good Sports. |
